Guillermo Bolinaga


Guillermo Bolinaga is a co-founder of Opportunitas Advisors. He has years of experience managing legal matters, regulatory, political, and reputational risks, strategic communications, and scenario planning. He was the Legal and Regulatory Affairs Director at Empresas Polar (1999-2019), the largest private sector company in Venezuela.

Guillermo has more than 25 years of senior leadership experience in global companies that achieve strategic business objectives in mission-critical situations. His extensive experience extends from highly complex legal operations to political and regulatory risk and crisis management in Latin America with a focus on Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Central America, and Venezuela.

He has been recognized for his ability to develop strategic analysis to manage risk and capitalize on opportunities, as well as develop corporate messaging and communications, and mitigate business risks in complex business disputes and uncertain political and regulatory environments. He has served on the board of directors of companies in Venezuela, the United States, Colombia, Spain, and Mexico.

In the academic arena, Guillermo was a professor of General Evidence Theory at the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello Law School in Caracas and founder and coordinator of the Honors program (Cátedra de Honor) (1999-2004) at the same institution. He was also member of Governors Board at the Universidad Metropolitana Foundation (2009-2014) and has been a guest lecturer at INCAE Business School in Costa Rica.

Guillermo earned a law degree from the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello and a Master of Laws LLM from Duke University (1994).
